It’s been an exciting few days here at Longhill Reserve, where we’ve welcomed some wonderful new additions to our private game reserve—just a short drive from the renowned Addo Elephant Park.
🌅 A Picture-Perfect Sunrise and the Bontebok’s Arrival
As the August winds settled and the early morning light broke through, we were treated to a breathtaking sunrise—no filter needed! During a peaceful game drive across the reserve, guests and rangers alike were thrilled to spot one of our newest residents: the striking Bontebok.
Recognisable by their beautiful white facial blaze and rich, chocolate-coloured coats, Bontebok are a rare and elegant antelope species, and a special sighting for anyone exploring our diverse landscape.
🦌 Springbok Grace the Plains
Adding even more life to the reserve, a graceful herd of Springbok has also made Longhill their new home. These iconic South African antelope are a favourite among safari-goers thanks to their remarkable speed, agility, and signature “pronking” behaviour.
Their presence brings extra charm and movement to our open areas—making every game drive a chance to witness the magic of the wild in action.
🐾 A Tiny Treasure – The Blue Duiker
And last but not least, we’re thrilled to introduce the Blue Duiker, the smallest member of the duiker family! Weighing just a few kilograms and standing under 40cm tall, these tiny antelope are elusive forest dwellers known for their shy but curious nature.
Diurnal by habit, Blue Duikers feed on fallen fruit, fresh leaves, and bark—making them an important part of our reserve’s ecosystem. Spotting one is a real treat, and we can’t wait for our guests to meet this petite but fascinating creature.
Whether you’re a seasoned wildlife enthusiast or planning your first Addo Elephant Park adventure, Longhill Reserve offers a unique and intimate safari experience—with new surprises around every corner. Come for the view, stay for the wildlife, and experience the wild beauty of the Eastern Cape like never before.
