What is Addo weather really like?
Addo weather is generally warm and semi-arid, but it changes through the year and across the wider park. The Addo Section receives less than 445 mm of rainfall annually on average. Rainfall is relatively evenly distributed, with seasonal peaks in February to March and October to November. [1]
SANParks lists January reference temperatures of 32°C maximum and 15°C minimum, compared with 18°C and 5°C in July for the Addo Section. These are long-term climate references, not a forecast for your exact dates. [1]
Choose the month that fits your wider holiday, pack for the likely season and check the live forecast immediately before travel. Addo Elephant National Park includes areas with different terrain and local conditions, so your weather can vary between locations. [1]

A weather-wise stay at Longhill Reserve.
Longhill Reserve is a malaria-free private reserve in the Eastern Cape, approximately 27 km by road from Addo Elephant National Park. The reserve offers four private lodges and ten Luxury Tents, alongside morning and afternoon Longhill game drives. Wildlife sightings are never guaranteed, but an unhurried stay gives you time and space to experience the bushveld. [2]
In summer, structure the day around the cooler morning and later-afternoon windows. In winter, bring warm layers for an early outing and return to the comfort of your accommodation as the day opens up. Confirm the facilities of your selected stay directly with the Longhill team before booking.
